Blackhawks prospect Cole Moberg out 2-3 weeks with upper-body injury

Blackhawks defenseman prospect Cole Moberg will miss 2-3 weeks for the Prince George Cougars with an upper-body injury, the WHL team announced Friday. Kyle Balzer of Prince George Matters first reported the news Wednesday.

Moberg, who was selected in the seventh round in this June’s draft, left the Cougars’ 4-1 loss to the Vancouver Giants on Sept. 21 in the third period after taking a hit from Giants forward Tristen Nielsen. Moberg scored Prince George’s first goal of the season the night before against Vancouver. His 40 points (13 goals, 27 assists) in 61 games last season ranked third on the team and first among defensemen.

Moberg’s timeline of 2-3 weeks is the same as Blackhawks goalie prospect Alexis Gravel, who will be out with a lower-body injury for the Halifax Mooseheads in the QMJHL.
