Chicagoland native Kendall Coyne-Schofield will participate in the NHL’s All-Star skills competition Friday at SAP Center in San Jose, California.
Coyne-Schofield will be joined by fellow Olympians Brianna Decker and Renata Fast and Rebecca Johnston, both Canadians, in the skills competition. Coyne-Schofield and Fast will be in the accuracy shooting event, while Decker will compete in the premier passing and Johnston in puck control.
The competition will be broadcasted at 8 p.m. Friday on NBC Sports Network.
All four Olympians will also participate in the Fan Fair Zone at 2 p.m. Saturday to sign autographs.
Coyne-Schofield, a Palos Heights native and Carl Sandburg High School alum, is one of the most decorated female hockey players in the game. She won the 2016 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award as the top female college hockey player and won gold with the United State women’s hockey team at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea.
The Blackhawks ambassador was the lone woman to play in the Chicago Pro Hockey League this summer at MB Ice Arena in Chicago.
Coyne-Schofield has five goals and 12 points in 11 games for the Minnesota Whitecaps in their inaugural season in the National Women’s Hockey League. She’ll participate in the NWHL’s All-Star weekend Feb. 9-10 in Nashville.
