Lubomir Visnovsky accepts professional tryout to Blackhawks training camp

Lubomir Visnovsky has accepted a professional tryout to the Chicago Blackhawks training camp, according to his agent, Neil Sheehy.

Visnovsky, 39, is currently an unrestricted free agent after playing the past three seasons with the New York Islanders. The defenseman scored 11 goals and added 34 assists for 31 points on Long Island, including 20 points a season ago. He only played in four of the Isles’ seven opening-round playoff games against the Capitals.

Before joining the Islanders, he recorded a career-high 68 points (18 goals, 50 assists) with the Anaheim Ducks during the 2010-11 season. He has 495 points from the blue line in 883 career NHL games.

Both Visnovsky and Jan Hejda, who was also given a tryout, are hoping to be the Hawks’ Michal Rozsival this year. But both are older than Rozsival, who was also listed among players to attend Hawks training camp. Kyle Cumiskey who played on the blue line a season ago is also a training camp invite.
