Scott Foster is back.
The goaltender who made an emergency appearance last March was on the ice during the Blackhawks’ morning skate Thursday at the United Center. Coach Joel Quenneville said Foster will be joining the Blackhawks for additional optional morning skates prior to home games this season. Foster was not made available to media after practice.

Foster, a 36-year-old accountant at Golub Capital, signed an amateur tryout contract March 28 and was the emergency backup netminder for Collin Delia, who made his debut the next night against the Jets. Anton Forsberg was scheduled to start, but was injured during pregame warmups.
Midway through the third period, Delia suffered an injury which forced Foster into action. Foster stopped all seven shots he faced in 14 minutes in Chicago’s 6-2 victory.

This past weekend in Tucson, Arizona, Delia told Catherine Silverman of The Athletic he’s developed a friendship with Foster and they’ve kept in touch during the summer since the wild night.
Foster stayed out of the public spotlight after his performance until the NHL Awards in June in Las Vegas. He helped Chicago native actor Jim Belushi present the Vezina Trophy, which is given annually to the league’s top goaltender. During the presentation, Foster joked he needed to speed up giving out the award because he need to get back to work.
