Lucas Carlsson to make NHL debut for Blackhawks vs. Stars

Lucas Carlsson will make his NHL debut for the Blackhawks when they visit the Stars on Sunday afternoon at American Airlines Center in Dallas.

The defenseman was called up from the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL on Saturday after the team announced Erik Gustafsson wouldn’t travel with the Blackhawks as the team looks for a trade prior to the NHL deadline of 2 p.m. Monday.

The 22-year-old Carlsson had a career-high seven-game point streak end in the IceHogs’ 1-0 win against San Antonio on Friday in Rockford. He had nine points (one goal, eight assists) during his point streak. His 21 assists lead the IceHogs and his 26 points top all Rockford defensemen.

Carlsson, who was selected by Chicago in the fourth round in 2016, will be the seventh player in Blackhawks history to wear No. 46 and the fourth Chicago player to make his NHL debut this season.

The Blackhawks and Stars drop the puck at 2 p.m. Sunday.
