The Chicago Blackhawks’ forward Artemi Panarin bounced back from a shoulder injury with two goals and two assists in a 4-0 win over Latvia. For his efforts, he was named the player of the game. It is the second such honor a Blackhawks player has earned at the 2016 World Championships. Vincent Hinostroza also earned the honor after having two assists for the U.S.
Erik Gustafsson had an assist in Sweden’s 4-2 loss to Czech Republic, while Hinostroza and Motte (U.S.) and Ville Pokka (Finland) were held scoreless in Finland’s 3-2 win over the Americans.
In the OHL Cup Final, Graham Knott had an assist in Niagara’s 6-5 overtime meltdown loss to London.
