Elsewhere in Chicago sports, Red Stars striker Sam Kerr scored Australia’s lone goal in a 2-1 loss to Italy in Group C play at the World Cup. The Sky remain undefeated at home this season with a 78-71 win over Seattle. Eloy Jimenez launched a 471-foot home run and Reynaldo Lopez tossed six innings for the White Sox to defeat the Royals 5-2. Kyle Hendricks tossed one-run ball in seven innings to continue his dominance over the Cardinals, lifting the Cubs to a 5-1 win for the series sweep.

On Monday, the Cubs head west to start a three-game series against the Rockies. The White Sox return to Chicago to host the Nationals.
