Morning Bag Skate: 8-1-19

There was nothing new on the Blackhawks front Wednesday.

Elsewhere in Chicago sports, Atlético Madrid shut out the Fire’s Bastian Schweinsteiger and the MLS all-stars 3-0 at Exploria Stadium in Orlando. Kyle Hendricks threw seven scoreless innings in a 2-0 Cubs win over the Cardinals. The White Sox fell 4-2 to the Mets.

The Cubs also traded Carl Edwards Jr. to the Padres for lefty Brad Wieck, and acquired outfielder Nicholas Castellanos from the Tigers for cash considerations utility man Tony Kemp from the Astros for catcher Martin Maldonado.

On Thursday, the Cubs and White Sox both play.
