Blackhawks get NHL-high 19 national TV appearances 2018-19 season

The Chicago Blackhawks will be the NHL’s most popular team on national television for the upcoming 2018-19 season. The Hawks will play a league-high 19 games on national television in the United States, starting with a home game Wednesday, Nov. 14 against St. Louis on NBC Sports Network.

The reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals are the second most featured team with 18 appearances.

NBC Sports announced its full schedule of national NHL broadcasts for next season Monday. This year marks the debut of “Wednesday Night Hockey” on NBCSN in an effort to diversify the schedule from the often criticized “Wednesday Night Rivalry” format. Wednesday Night Hockey will feature 17 doubleheaders, with eight featuring Chicago.

The Hawks will play three games on NBC, starting with the Winter Classic at noon Jan. 1 against the Boston Bruins at Notre Dame Stadium in South Bend, Indiana. Chicago hosts the Capitals at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 20 and visits the Minnesota Wild at 7 p.m. Feb. 2.
