Blackhawks vs. Ducks preview: Anaheim hosts key Black Friday matchup
The Blackhawks look to avoid their third straight loss.
The Chicago Blackhawks look to bounce back when they visit the Anaheim Ducks in a Black Friday matinee matchup at Honda Center. However, they’ll be doing so without their captain.
Jonathan Toews left Tuesday’s game with what is being called a day-to-day upper-body injury and will not play against the Ducks. Toews did not participate in Thursday’s practice.
Chicago is coming off a 2-1 loss in San Jose heading into Game 6 of their seven-game Circus Trip. The Hawks have gone 2-3-0 on the trip so far, adding to their 13-6-2 record, keeping them in first place in the Central Division with 28 points.
Corey Crawford will start in net for the Blackhawks. Crawford boasts a 9-6-2 record this season, with a .923 save percentage, while John Gibson will get the nod for the Ducks. Gibson has a 6-6-3 record, with a .908 save percentage.
Anaheim is coming off a 14-round shootout loss against the New York Islanders on Tuesday night, the longest shootout in the franchises history. The Ducks have started the season with a 9-7-4 record, to sit them at fourth in the Pacific Division.
The Blackhawks have won six of their last eight against the Ducks on the road, and look to continue this streak Friday in Anaheim.
