Stanley Cup Playoffs Game Thread, 5/2

Let’s watch some playoff hockey! Scroll down to the comments to discuss Tuesday night’s games.

Eastern Conference

Florida Panthers at Toronto Maple Leafs, 6 p.m. CT (ESPN)

The Panthers upset the historic Presidents’ Trophy winning Bruins. The Leafs finally made it to the second round for the first time in nearly 20 years. Which team will carry their Round 1 momentum into Tuesday night? Each team has a very strong top six – led by Florida’s Matthew Tkachuk and Toronto’s Mitch Marner with 11 points apiece – but have major question marks in goal. Toronto is the favorites for the series, but counting out Florida at this point seems ill-advised.

Western Conference

Seattle Kraken at Dallas Stars, 8:30 p.m. CT (ESPN)

Much like the teams in the East, the Kraken achieved a great feat in the first round: eliminating the reigning Stanley Cup Champions, the Avalanche. They did so thanks to their score-by-committee method that proved so capable during the regular season. The goaltending is still suspect but Grubauer performed better than expected with a .926 save percentage in Round 1. The Stars, on the other hand, leaned heavily on their top-six for scoring, and Roope Hintz actually leads the playoffs in points with 12. In net, Oettinger continued his playoff success with a .929 save percentage.
