Well at this point last year, the Blues were storming their way into the 8th spot by winning 9 of their last 11 games. Meanwhile the Blackhawks were having a lousy Smarch, losing 9 of the 15 games… so at least one of those things isn’t happening this year.

The Blues are 8 points back from Colorado (and don’t look now but the Scum are in 6th) with a max of only 12 points available. A Hawks win tonight puts the Blues right on the brink of the end of the season. Wouldn’t it be nice if the Hawks could focus on eliminating a rival at this point of the year? Instead we’re facing probably the worst stretch of the season, highlighted by back-to-back losses to the basement dwelling bloggers that are the Columbus Blue Jackets. At least there are only two more games left in this godawful month. We’ve hammered it home that the Hawks did exact same shit last year… piss-poor March, kick-ass April. No idea why, but lets hope it happens again.

And there’s hope for tonight – The Hawks are 3-1-0 against the Blues this year and can win the season series with a victory tonight. The Blues are still horrible at home so there’s a good chance at two points but they’ve won their last two in a row in front of the simpletons that populate St. Louis. Of course, the DrinkScotch Center has turned into United Center West, so I’m sure there’s going to be plenty of red in the crowd. Right now the Blues are in an interesting win two, lose two, win two pattern stretching back to the 11th. Last time the two faced off, Niemi stood on his head and all us did some serious damage to ours along with the Game Time crew. Tonight he’ll get a chance to do the same –

Almost lost in the madness that is Versteeg as a center and Duncan Keith being picky about his skates was the news that the Dustin Byfuglien as defenseman may have ended. This is welcome news but it still doesn’t solve the mystery of the whereabouts of Kim Johnsson. There really isn’t more we can say at this point – the Hawks still have time to turn around and remember win before the playoffs. The #1 seed is all but gone at this point but that’s not something many of us have ever really wanted or worried about, right? Just beat the Blues… please. Lets turn it around tonight.

Lets Go Hawks
