Blackhawks to receive 2019 fourth-round pick from Bruins for Tommy Wingels trade

The Chicago Blackhawks will have nine draft picks in the 2019 NHL draft, including two fourth-round selections.

Chicago acquired their ninth pick in a February trade with the Boston Bruins in exchange for forward Tommy Wingels. The pick was originally a fifth-round selection, but turned into a fourth-round one when the Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in Game 7 on Wednesday to advance to the second round of the playoffs. Wingels also had to play in at least one playoff game. He played in three in the first round.

Wingels scored two goals and assisted on three others in 18 regular-season games for the Bruins, but he was held scoreless in three games against the Maple Leafs. The Bruins will face the Tampa Bay Lightning in the second round.

The Hawks also have two seventh-round picks after a March 2017 trade with the Anaheim Ducks that sent Spencer Abbott and Sam Carrick to Anaheim for Kenton Helgesen and the pick.

The 2019 NHL draft will be Friday, June 21 and Saturday, June 22 at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
