Watch: Patrick Kane sets new career season-high in goals at 31

Patrick Kane scored his 31st goal of the season to set a new season-high for himself against the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night at Gila River Arena.

Kane, 27, leads the league in points (73), goals (31) and assists (43). He needs only 16 more points to pass his season-high set in 2009-10 season.

The Blackhawks haven’t had a 50-goal scorer with a 100-point season since Jeremy Roenick in 1991-92 and 1992-93. Kane is on pace to reach that feat with 50 goals and 118 points. He is the favorite to become the first Blackhawk to win the Hart Trophy, given to the league’s most valuable player, and Art Ross Trophy, given to the player who leads the league in points, since Stan Mikita won both in 1968.

Mikita won the Hart and Art Ross in back-to-back seasons in 1967 and 1968. Mikita won the Art Ross four times in the 1960s, while Bobby Hull won the award three times paired with two Hart trophies (1965, 1966).
