2018 Stanley Cup Final: Game 5 open thread

In a season of firsts from the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, it could be the Washington Capitals who punctuated the season with the best first of all — a Stanley Cup victory.

The Capitals enter Game 5 on Thursday night at T-Mobile Arena in Vegas with a 3-1 series lead and will have up to three chances to win its first Stanley Cup. Washington has won three straight games since dropping Game 1. The Golden Knights have never lost four consecutive games.

Vegas is 7-2 on home ice during the playoffs, but lost 3-2 in its last outing there May 30 in Game 2. On the opposite end, the Capitals are 9-3 on the road in the playoffs which is one victory shy of the NHL record.

Former Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Michal Kempny scored a goal and blocked five shots in the Capitals’ Game 4 win.
