Blackhawks defenseman Brandon Davidson will undergo surgery on his right knee Tuesday, the team announced Saturday afternoon. His timetable for return will be determined after the surgery.
Chicago placed Davidson on injured reserve Nov. 16 after he injured his right leg four days prior in the Blackhawks’ 3-2 overtime loss to the Hurricanes in Carolina. He played 12:33 minutes in the game.
Davidson had one assist in the Blackhawks’ 6-3 home loss to the Lightning on Oct. 21. The 6-foot-2, 208-pound defenseman has skated in only seven regular-season games on Chicago’s third defensive pairing.
The Blackhawks signed the 27-year-old left-hander to a one-year contract worth $650,000 in September after joining the team in training camp on a professional tryout. Davidson had one assist in three preseason games. During the past four seasons, he has appeared in 152 NHL contests with the Oilers, Canadiens and Islanders, amassing nine goals and 13 assists.
