Blackhawks’ Jonathan Toews sets new season career-high in points

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews set a new season career-high in points with a power-play goal against the Jets on Monday at the United Center in Chicago.

Toews eclipsed his career-high in points with a power-play goal at 4:25 in the first period. He fired a shot from the left faceoff circle through Connor Hellebuyck’s five-hole for his 77th point this season, surpassing his 2010-11 total.

Toews’ 34th goal this season also tied his career-high in goals set back in the 2008-09 season.

Toews’ career high comes after a career low 52 points (20 goals, 32 assists) in a full season. He had 48 points (23 goals, 25 assists) in the 2013 lockout shorten season.

Denis Savard holds the franchise record for the most points in a season with 131 points in 1987-88. Savard also has the second (121 in 82-83), third (119 in 81-82) and fourth (116 in 85-86) highest season point totals.
