The Blackhawks dominated the first period, but couldn’t solve Red Wings netminder Jimmy Howard. The first period was full of fast-paced, fun hockey with a lot of back and forth play, as well as a lot of zone time for the ‘Hawks. One really bright spot was the powerplay, as the first unit moved the puck well and generated a lot of shots. Although they couldn’t put one home, they’re not far off.
