Rockford IceHogs beat Manitoba Moose 4-1 in Game 2, take 2-0 series lead

The Rockford IceHogs scored four unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory in Game 2 over the Manitoba Moose on Saturday to take a 2-0 series lead in the Central Division final series.

Tyler Sikura scored a goal and assisted on Chris DiDomenico’s power-play tally. Carl Dahlstrom also found the back of the net and Andreas Martinsen added an empty-net goal.

Luke Johnson had two assists for Rockford, the Blackhawks’ AHL affiliate, who improved to 5-0 in the playoffs.

The Moose, the Winnipeg Jets’ AHL team, scored first when Brendan Lemieux sent a shot past Rockford goaltender Collin Delia for a 1-0 lead at 16:03.

But the IceHogs and Sikura answered less than two minutes later. Viktor Svedberg sent a slap shot to the net and Sikura buried the rebound to tie it.

It was all IceHogs after that.

DiDomenico scored on the man advantage just 4:45 into the second frame and Dahlstrom made it 3-1 with less than five minutes to go in the period. Martinsen added an empty-netter with nine seconds left in the game.

Rockford went 1 for 4 on the power play, and killed off three penalties. Delia made 33 saves to improve to 5-0 in the playoffs. He leads all goaltenders in the postseason with a 1.52 goals-against average and is second with a .949 save percentage.

Game 3 is Wednesday at BMO Harris Bank Center in Rockford.
