Second City Hockey’s 2018-19 Blackhawks season preview

It’s time.

After nearly six months of waiting, the Chicago Blackhawks will open their regular season Thursday night against the Ottawa Senators.

And what to expect during the upcoming 82-game regular season is about as uncertain as it’s been in the last decade. Chicago is coming off its first season without a playoff appearance since 2008. Although Blackhawks general manager Stan Bowman did have some salary cap space to work with, there weren’t a lot of adjustments made to a team that finished in last place in the Central Division with 76 points.

During the next few days, the staff here at Second City Hockey will walk you through all three position groups in Chicago (goaltenders, defensemen, forwards) while also looking around the NHL landscape at what to expect during the 2018-19 NHL season.

Keep an eye on this page during the week as we dive into another year of NHL hockey.
