Wednesday Grab Bag

-As most have probably caught, Cristobal Huet gets the start tomorrow in Ohio. Q is sounding the right bells in giving both guys a chance, but color me skeptical. I know how most people feel on this blog, and maybe it’s my Rex Grossman Complex acting up again, but I’m really rooting for Cris. It’s not out of any dislike of Antti Niemi, he’s been way better than I ever thought he would be. In addition, if he plays like he did last night, the Hawks can win a Cup with that, no question. But I think Cris has been jerked around by his coach and especially the fans, and was never given the chance to work himself out of a funk as he’s already done once this year. I would love nothing better than to see Huet throw up back to back shutouts against what is a terrible team in the Blue Jackets. There are so many cupcakes coming up on the schedule that either guy has a great chance in going on a roll. Again, let me say I will throw my full support against whichever goalie gets the reins. I just want to see Huet overcome a lot of bullshit, a lot of which results out of jealousy of his paycheck.

-I just want to echo my colleague McClure’s sentiments on Brent Seabrook last night, who had his best game in eons. It’s clear that Seabs needs to play with a snarl, which he did last night. Thanks to Wisniewski, it appears everyone’s going to be guilty in Seabs’s eyes.

-You probably saw this too, but after last night’s victory, the Hawks boast a 79% chance of finishing first in the Conference. With Scum looking for all the world like they will zoom up the standings, and the idea of letting the Sharks and Canucks deal with it first, this is all right by me.

-Sharp, Bolland, and Hossa showed flashes both good and bad last night, but we’ll settle for the flashes of good for now.

-I think that’s it for now.
