2018 Stanley Cup playoffs: Western Conference Final Game 5 open thread

The Vegas Golden Knights are one win away from punching their ticket to the Stanley Cup Final.

The Golden Knights defeated the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 at home Friday night to take a stranglehold of the best-of-seven series. The conference final shifts to Winnipeg for Game 5 on Sunday at Bell MTS Place. If necessary, Game 6 will be Tuesday back in Las Vegas.

After losing the series opener 4-2, Vegas has won three straight games. A key part in that has been the Golden Knights’ ability to respond quickly. Vegas has scored within two shifts of the Jets tying the score.

If Vegas can win one of the next three games, they’ll be third expansion franchise to make the Cup Final. The St. Louis Blues, who represented an all-expansion West Division, were swept by the Montreal Canadiens in 1968 and the Toronto Arenas won the Cup in 1918 over the Vancouver Millionaires 3-2.
