No place like home for Corey Crawford

Surprise, surprise, Corey Crawford got a shutout, again. This isn’t even news at this point, is it? Crawford is having a season for the ages, and his seventh shutout through 41 games is just another part of that.

The next closest goalie is the St. Louis BluesJake Allen, who has five shutouts so far this season. After him, there are six goalies who have four each, and that’s about it.

So Crawford is clearly standing in a league of his own. Here’s one of the things with all his shutouts, though: they’ve all been at home. He has yet to completely silence another team’s goal song on the road this season.

Then again, with another 30 games still go to, he’s got time for that, doesn’t he?

Via Elias Sports, though, we’ve got more room to compare Crawford’s season to Tony Esposito:

The only other goaltenders in Blackhawks history to post at least seven home shutouts in one season are Tony Esposito, who had nine in both 1969-70 and 1971-72.

Think Crawford can put another two on the board? The way this year has been going for him, well, why not?

Crawford already has a couple of Jennings Trophies to his name. Is this the year a Vezina gets added to his collection? He’s certainly playing like it.
